Your body will build a defense system that will protect your body from various diseases. This is called the immune system. When your body is exposed to a germ for the first time, it starts producing antibodies to fight it. The antibodies stay in your body. When your body is exposed to germs in the future, the immune system will protect your body. The antibodies will attack right away, and you won’t get the illness. This is the purpose of immunization.

However, some diseases may lead to serious complications and sometimes death. When we vaccinate, a weakened microbe, a fragment, or something that resembles it, is added to the body. Then your immune system activated. For some diseases, vaccination will lead to lifelong protection.

Vaccination is recommended for everyone. Most are given to children. It is recommended that children receive 14 different vaccines by their 6th birthday. The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) believes that immunization is essential to preventing the spread of contagious diseases. The AAFP offers vaccination recommendations, immunization schedules, and information on disease-specific vaccines.
Immunization For Children
Children and adolescents are strongly advised to join the immunization program. This is the way to avoid twelve different diseases: rotavirus, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, poliomyelitis, infection with Haemophilus influenza type B (Hib), hepatitis B, pneumococcal disease, measles, mumps, rubella, and human papillomavirus (HPV) which can cause cervical cancer.
Vaccination usually starts when a child is six weeks old. Since several of the diseases vaccinated against affecting the youngest children the hardest, delays should be avoided. Booster doses are given when a child reaches school age. These are the reasons to vaccinate your child.
A good vaccine will provide prolonged protection against disease. For some vaccines, there is a need for booster doses in the future to maintain protection. Including vaccines for tetanus, diphtheria, polio, and pertussis. A booster dose may also be needed for a travel vaccine.
